I was born on a houseboat in the Netherlands and grew up with water as my playground. Those early years were full of freedom, fishing, and endless space. My life later took me across the seas—including a year sailing to Central America on the STENTOR in 1964—and even a short period in the Navy, where I quickly learned it wasn’t the right world for me.
My father was an extraordinary civil engineer who built ports around the world. His mind was sharp as a knife—an innovator through and through—and that DNA stayed with me. Over decades I owned and managed seven salons and spent sixty years in the industry, always keeping busy, always building, always learning.
Music has always been my other language. I love rhythm—drums and bass especially—and I’ve written my own songs. I performed on the club circuit, did backing vocals, and even played in bands that took us far.
And yes, love is part of this story too. After five marriages, finding a truly compatible partner has been a gift—we’ve supported each other and shared a happy life together for 22 years.

Baby boomers are the generation born roughly between 1946 and 1964, following World War II. They grew up during a time of major social change, economic growth, and rapid development. It was a generation shaped by strong values, hard work, and a deep sense of family and community—qualities that influenced how I lived, worked, and built my life.
Feeling love for my three children, especially during the years when they were young, remains one of the most powerful experiences of my life. That love is universal and overwhelming, filled with joy, presence, and meaning. Those moments shaped my understanding of responsibility, connection, and what truly matters beyond success.

I don’t write to impress anyone. I write to remember, to feel, and to share. My journey began on the water, growing up on a houseboat in the Netherlands, where freedom was simply a way of life. The sea taught me patience, courage, and respect for life long before I fully understood what those words meant.
Over the years, I traveled, worked, built businesses, made music, loved deeply, failed, learned, and started anew. Every experience left its mark. Writing became my way of capturing those moments—not as perfect, but as honest truths—and transforming them into stories others can genuinely connect with.
If I’ve accomplished anything, it’s this: I kept moving forward. Through decades of work, creativity, and personal growth, I remained curious and open to life. I built businesses, performed on music stages, and navigated relationships that shaped who I am. Some were painful, others beautiful, but all were essential.
This book isn’t just about success. It’s about endurance, growth, and the quiet strength that comes from living honestly. It’s a record of a life filled with lessons—not to teach, but to be understood.
